Work Outside of Your Comfort Zone

No matter what your craft is you can always grow and learn more.  I choose to create other services or canvas to paint on. I have been working clay and wood to explore outside of the traditional canvas to paint.  I have been able to expand some different textures and color combinations.  Discovery is always awesome.  Recently I have used some recycled materials to make a lamp that works. I'm constantly looking to work a range of mediums.  Clay, wood and metal are excellent mediums to work with and gain experience

Perfect Your Craft

The more you work your craft the quicker you will grow and discover more about yourself.  I paint and cook on a daily basis.  My experiences and discoveries are like no other and they project me into even more ideas and understanding of the world.  I enjoy what I do. I'm very content with my lifestyle. I know that I have unlimited potential and will continue to learn, grow and teach.  I love experiencing awesome moments of discovery everyday!  I have noticed that not only my paintings have themes but the meals that I prepare do as well.  The weather is starting to get a little cooler.  I have gumbo on my mind and will be painting some winter scenes very soon.  I have enjoyed the summer and fall starts next week officially.   I love all of the seasons, especially when you live in the areas that you can see the changes come and go.  I have been very busy lately with school, diversifying my portfolio, building credentials and working special projects.  I have not been doing as many reviews as I would love to do.  I make time during my weekends and late night to help and encourage other artists to perfect their work.

DiversifyYour Portfolio

I'm currently in the process of creating my resume.  I always take time to maintain notes of things I do, learn and become proficient at.  Creating positive associations with different organizations open doors and builds your credibility as an artist.  Diversifying your portfolio as an artist has several advantages and allows a lot of growth and development of your craft. A quick snap shot for this year so far has been amazing!  I'm working in new mediums.  One, oil painting which was an on the spot test/challenge. I'll share the story another day.  Additionally I'm working  and have been making prints over the past 2 weeks.  It is awesome how you can make a template out of linoleum and use ink and a press to capture your image on high quality paper.  As an artist you are able to build up a body of work or a series pretty quick.  It also can create an economical introductory price to your work. A basic print tend to sell from $5 to $25 depending on the artist, materials (frame, ect) and time investment. I'm very excited about making prints. I'm also working with clay and paper every week. This allows me the opportunity to grow, and perfect my craft and generate more work weekly.  When it comes to my ceramics, I have to generate enough to display in my Soldier of Clay exhibits, juried shows, gifts and sales.  These are just a few things that have diversified my portfolio.  I'm still doing art reviews weekly and that is really and honor and pleasure to do.  That entire process is developing me.

Last One Standing (Un Ășltimo pie) (New York Edition)

A special thanks for everyone attending my solo New York exhibit!  I appreciate all of the support and set up of this wonderful 3D exhibit!  It really took teamwork from my support system in North Carolina & new support team in New York to make this a highly successful event.  The event was short and sweet just as I had envisioned it.  I have been at the fortress producing work.  I have also been expanding my market, skill and mediums.   I will be doing some art reviews this weekend in between special projects at the fortress.  I am very happy to share with everyone that I'm working paint daily, clay weekly and generating prints weekly.
