Today is the Last Day of 2012 & Still Opportunity is Unlimited for You!

Today is the end of a year.  It also means that there is still unlimited opportunity to improve, discover, change, encourage, build in a positive direction.  Previously you have heard me talk about noise.  Listening to noise instead of keeping the main thing the main thing hurts us all.  For those that are new to my blog.  Noise is the daily confusion that tries to find a place in your life daily.  Noise is unproductive thoughts, actions and statements that are manifested with a negative spiritual connection leading to contamination.  That's the short answer about noise.  Noise tries to find that last nerve or the straw that broke the camels back.  When you disable these areas of your life you become more focused on what is really important. You will be more positive and productive towards yourself and everyone you come in contact with. Leave the noise in 2012 and live liberated in 2013! :)

27 December 2012 Still Working Craft Relentlessly

Still working my craft several hours a week.  Even though school is out, I'm not fully in a vacation mode.  New work is being created and current work is being enhanced.  I strive to work several different mediums a week.  I do have special project that I am working on that demand outdoor work.  As I continue to work I   continue to encourage my students to get in 40-60 working your craft every week.  It is a realistic goal that will give you tremendous growth and credibility.  When you are operating at a high operational tempo you win in so many different ways.  Each of those ways are beneficial to you, your craft and the community as a whole.  Promoting the arts and securing it's place in the future should be on the forefront of each artist's mind.  Together we can create and discover the next wave of art that will take the world by storm.  Work as if it is impossible for you to fail.  Always work this way and maintain it throughout your life.

Staying on Fire! (If you are...PART 1)

Christmas is a season and opportunity to choose to be happy, treat yourself and others right.  During this time of year people do a lot for each other.  People tend to be more generous, forgiving and open minded during this season.  These are the days that adults and children believe that all things are possible.  It is important to care about one another, and all that we have been given steward over.  We all have the ability and the responsibility to make our world a better place for all to enjoy.  Yes, this does mean taking a stand when there is injustice.  Not everyone can join the military and that's not the only stand that you can make. If you are a parent, lead with fairness, truth and integrity.  That's making a stand, that will last for generations to come.  If you are a teacher, maintain that passion for your craft and teach like you have never taught before. If you are a doctor, always build, encourage and keep hope alive.  Several people need to witness this in their lifetime. Your craft, comes in contact with several people and is a ministry that  provides comfort, healing and dignity. If you are a member of law enforcement, just like the doctor always keep in the forefront of your mind you oath and the commitment to protecting and serving the community. Always remember.

BATS TEAM LEADER REPORT (MISSION COMPLETE)

The entire team has completed all of the 2012 requirements for the BATS class.  It was a pleasure to be able to have the opportunity to teach this unique class.  This class stimulated my creative abilities as well. Last night the team completed the mission and had a party after class had ended.  Class members are supposed to continue working their craft and communicating with me.  Those that are, benefit and are on a high priority track with their projects.  I'm constantly working on several special projects and will be introducing them in 2013.  When it comes to setting goals, it is important to not just meet them but exceed the goal.

There will be new classes taught by me in 2013.  Follow this blog and my website for details as they are revealed.  As an artist, it is important to constantly learn and emerge into the best person possible. I'm constantly encouraging others to learn their voice and share it with the world!  Set goals, establish milestones, recruit the motivation and consistently move forward towards the finish line. KEEP WINNING!!!

ART SURGE DETECTED IN COMMUNITY (SUPER WAVE PART 1)

"The rate of the pack is set by the total quality and motivation of the leadership in times of peace and war."  said, SFC Childs

When you take the courage to be the pioneer, leader of your craft it affect the atmosphere around you.  Everyday I mention the importance of being a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to someone.  When you sprint hard and fast in your craft, you generate synergy for yourself and those around you.  When you work at the level of consistency and excellence, those that are for or against you have to pause.  Everyone is taking note of your successes and the formula that you use to win.  Everyone loves to win!  Ahhh Ha moments are just one heartbeat away from a victory.  When you have the intestinal fortitude to try, fail and experiment you gain tremendous growth within your self and your craft.  I never want to be the type that becomes comfortable and never pushes the limit of different mediums.  There is always room and time to learn, listen and receive growth.

One of the things that you can witness and some will not admit, is they love your work but keep it secret.  Recently I had someone make a comment that I had several secret admirers of my work.  Bringing this to my attention made me began to ponder a few things.  Additionally, several students pointed out to me that the standards at the college for all of the artists have been raised due to the trail that has been blazed by me.  Additionally there are artists that are getting off the sidelines and are becoming more productive due to the continual increase in credentials, value and awareness of my work.  Family & friends also have pointed out to me that teaching a class right now is a blessing and a very unique situation.  The feedback I'm getting from several art organizations is that I'm their LEADER.  There are artists right now that have not been in the media for several years, now they are in the newspaper doing a show with other artists.  Some would say that it was about time for them to do something.  I would say. "I'm happy for him" "I'm happy for her also" Yes, there has been an increase in shows and exhibits in the community over the past 2 years.  This "RISE" or SURGE in the arts is a win, win for every community.  There's an increase of art in several places traditional and nontraditional locations.  Art can be seen almost everywhere from traditional galleries, museums, banks, libraries, schools and local businesses.  This is tremendous opportunity for growth, exposure, area beautification and sales.  So I encourage all artist to join this "ART SURGE". Even though the year is winding down you can still make your make as an artist before this year ends.  Provide work and wonderful creations that span all of the mediums.  All is in high demand, coveted and treasured.  I have been blessed to help start and build art collectors, personal collections.  You can do the same.  What I do is I consistently work my craft as if it is impossible to ever fail.  Copyright 2012 Soldier of Clay Carl Childs

Working on Art for Blind & Visually Impaired

I have seen it in real life and on television of a blind person being left behind during an art show. Sometimes they are walked through the show with someone describing the images.  I'm currently working on a show that is to be touched.  This would bridge the gap and create a visual art experience for the blind and the visually impaired.  Everyone deserves to have the opportunity to enjoy art, no matter what senses they may or may not have.  I have though about this project for a long time.  Now I know is the time to create.  This is a first a show that you can put your hands on the work.  I will be featuring work to get feedback around the community today and in the weeks to come.  I have my own original design and will continue to create patterns that will AWE the mind!

Today is a New Day

Today is a new day!  A day full of opportunity and new discovery.  It is also a time to be patient with others, which is always an opportunity.  It is a good thing to let that car merge into traffic ahead of you.  You know that person was thinking that no one was going to let them in.  You suddenly surprise them they smile and wave at you full of excitement. Later on that same day a person's credit card is not working at McDonald's and this one that you let into the traffic now pays for some one's coffee.  The one that had the coffee bought for them now helps a disabled student navigate the campus.  Now we get to the blind person who exclaims, "I love what I see."

Victory Report! The Future is Super Bright!

Carl's Mini Geometric Game is a time to create, learn and grow.  It is fun to take time to create a 2D or 3D work with paper and pencil.  Everyone has artistic ability.  Each day is an opportunity to develop and share you craft with others.  Over the past 2 days children came to the Carolina Place Arcade and created mini masterpieces with colored paper and colored pencil.  Laughed, had fun playing the games and winning prizes.  Everyone that participated won at least one prize.  There was a variety of geometric shapes created: Circles, Triangles, Rectangles, Squares, Trapezoids, Octagons, Pentagons, and a Rhombus.  The whole process was interesting by the choices of shapes and the energy that was brought to the event.  Yes we had repeat customers from the previous event.  I had fun playing the games and creating some shapes myself. I'm definitely looking forward to our next event in Kings Mountain. Everyone that participated was excited and encouraging to each other.  This weekend was a win, win for everyone that was part of this event.

They Got it REALLY TWISTED (Stinking Thinking PART 1)

In BATS Business, Art, Tactic, Sales, I show you how to win in your craft. You have to bring your goals and dreams to the table to build a realistic plan.  If I'm going to show you how to build a house.  There are going to be customized plans, land, excavation equipment, plenty of lumber, block and a Delorean to park in the driveway. Oh, oo-o-oh, come on that's how I roll.

"The System" that is currently in place has lied to you!  Does the system speak life? It is by design because there are no coincidences ever.  Are you happy getting 100% of ZERO?  How many have spent several decades working craft gaining no momentum or making any headway.  The one's that think they are winning are the big fish in that small pond.  If you enter the same contest and stay in the same circles for over 30 years your bound to get a few trinkets.  Just because you have been working a craft for several decades doesn't mean you are good with people, organizing or sales.  You don't want to be out there struggling and loosing.  Were you listening to Luka when she said "I think I'm ok. I walked into the door again." Too many have buried their dreams at very early ages. NOW IS THE TIME FOR LIBERATION!

Value has to be established no matter what you are offering.  There are a lot of people around the community calling themselves "instructors" "teachers" and try to create classes to look good on paper.  Yet they teach no one. Does that make sense? They are not furthering their craft.  Doing this puts your craft in danger of becoming EXTINCT.  When you focus on having a program that doesn't show value it doesn't matter how cheap the price may be.  The same thing when it comes to pricing art work.  Bring A Game to the table and charge A Game price.  If you have been half stepping for quite sometime lets say 20 to 40 years.  I''ll qualify half stepping.  You have not invested in the next generation to teach them your craft. You have not left your comfort zone, experimented to high levels in your craft for inner discovery.  If you keep recycling the same art work by showing the same stuff all the time.  You maintain an attitude of not trying to say or build a sense of encouragement in self and or others.  When you don't be social at art events because no one buys your work.  Your years of high pressure sales and co-hoot sales have run out.  Now you've been sour quite sometime.  Especially if you can not provide hard copy or electronic evidence of achievement and legacy building. You try to cover it with fake smiles and wine.

I've been bless, to know the system that can lead anyone that wants it into a prosperous situation.  You need to believe that you deserve it.  Have the intestinal fortitude to capture you goals and dreams and move forward to the victory. You have to be willing to run harder than you have ever run in your life to achieve your heart's desire.  Life needs to be spoken in every area of your life all the time.  By you and everyone that happens to be around you.  You have to reconnect with that original vision or spirit that had you on fire for your craft.  That is the only acceptable way to live.

It is a process...a mind set.  THE GREATEST BATTLEGROUND IN THIS REALITY IS YOUR OWN MIND.  I don't share secrets often, this one is important for you to know!  You must pursue all of your goals as if you are INVINCIBLE.  The mindset that you can't fail is achievable at any age.  It all boils down to what you do with the time that you have been given.

Customized Table #1 is Finished!

My first Customized Table is finished!  At least until I decide to stain it. :) Right now the raw wood with all of the pencil marks is going to show.  There was a lot of growth and experimentation in completing this goal.  Now that I know it is possible I'm ready to go larger and create more refined detail.  What I loved the most about this work was all of the Ah-Ha! moments.  There were several of those throughout this entire process.  I have decided to go with design modification 3, out of all of my choices.  Design 3 has the most unique look, versatility and stability out of all three designs.  Additionally this work can always be used as my model for completing other work.  This piece can be further sanded and stain for a finished look.  The color of the stain would give more of a richness and a bold color to this work.  I really enjoyed this work.  Yes, I will continue to work this medium.  I look forward to fully developing my woodman skills. I loved all of the discovery and new skill acquired that were specific and unique to this project.  Some of the most important skills were:  1 Cutting safely over an extended period of time. 2. Vvisually learned how to create wood joints, 3. Learned some sanding techniques, and freehand designed all of the curves that are in my table.

BATS LEADER REPORT 19 November 2012

Now we are in week three! Mission week! There will more tests!  Everyone should be spending serious hours in you craft (40-60).  I will be checking portfolios, sketchbooks, and blog set up and pages today.  Everyone did well on the opportunity test.  Study your notes!  You will be given your rating information this week. Checkout this blog several times each day for assignments!  Study the website.  Due to several community events we didn't go on a field trip and the holidays are here.  We can plan to take a field trip within the first week of December.  We can talk about the trip in class tonight.  Make sure that everyone is early as usual. Keep winning!

Organic Sculpture 90% Complete!

My Organic Sculpture is 90% complete. There are a few finishing touches that I want to put on it.  This piece looks very serious! Once I'm finished I'm taking a quick break and then I will assemble my customized table.

Today I have some additional 2D work that I will be working on until completed.  I was thinking about bring some of my work to class today.

New Organic Sculpture Near Completion

I'm happy to report that my new Organic Sculpture is almost complete.  Before the night is over I will have another 12 hours or more invested in this super work!  I am constantly encouraging my student to work their craft.  Working my craft is very important for growth and discovery!  Each day can have a shift in the focus work of the day.  I tend to work on multiple projects at the same time.  In a typical day I will dedicate 2-4 hours drawing/sketching.  Then I dedicate 8-10 to clay and the last slot 8-10 is for wood or other special projects.  I do make adjustments with my day to ensure time for classes, priority projects and community events. Each day I strive to invest at least 8 hours in one of my active mediums and work a minimum 3 mediums as well.

Woodsman, Ceramicist, Writer & Instructor (Part 1)

Never get tired of winning!  Today is going to be another highly productive day for me.  I am currently working on my newest sculptural work .  I have been spending hours carving this one of a kind piece.  Additionally I have made some design modifications for my first customized table.  The customized table will definitely be finished within the next 48 hours.  I have all of my sections cut.  The joints are cut and drilled out. Now is the time to shim, dowel rod assembly and glue. This being my first table I will leave it for everyone to see the natural wood color. Later I will stain this table to give it a finished look. I will also be working on my after action review of the last night's event. I'm expecting some emails requesting permission to use my name and image.  Don't get caught without the permission because a lawsuit is never worth it. I'm an artist & model and it is serious business to use any one's information and image.  Also taking pictures of my work or any other artist's work without proper permission is a no go.  I know people love using Facebook   Putting images out on any site or social media without permission can and will eventually cause the person that posted the images and information to get into legal trouble.  In my class BATS, information is taught about the 1976 Copyright Act. Student/artist are empowered with knowledge to protect themselves and their work. Education and informing the public is a continuous process.  I have a few more tests from my BATS class to correct.  I have already written the next 3 tests for BATS and currently writing 3 books for the class.  Copyright (c) 2012 American Artist Carl Childs

Art Fundraiser & Sale was Awesome

Now the fundraiser event is over.  As an artist I have some work to do because of Christmas order processed today.  I'll blog with more information later.

Soldier of Clay in Charlotte (Part1) Scene I

I'm very excited to share with everyone that last night was a SUPER event.  The music was on point with sound quality, energy and diversity of genre.  All of the musicians are master artists, that work their craft and establishes the best mood that can create a memorable night.  Everyone lets give our musicians a standing ovation for a craft well done!  When it comes to the food. It was a bad....shut your mouth.  The food was a plentiful plethora of pleasing and pleasant delights for every pallet.  I love the presentation of the the food. It was visually stunning!  I had to take a picture of my food before I ate it.  To me this was a cherished moment that had to be captured and shared! Now I need everyone to back away from their computers and stand up again to give a standing ovation for the food.  Please be seated.  Now we are about to do our first internet toast on my blog.  Stand up again!  Raise your glass.  It doesn't matter what's in your glass. Just raise it.  My glass has milk, it's the first food my mommy started me on. :)  So don't worry about it.  Let's give a job well done to Project Art Aid Staff, The Musicians, The Chef and last but not least the artists.  Without the artist, the world would be a very dismal place.  Drink your beverage, be blessed and please be seated.

Establish Value, Vision & Relationship for Life

Last night was an AWESOME night! :)  How AWESOME?  Since you asked I'll share this story.  As of right now, names will not be used to prevent their personal embarrassment. :)  Last night was a reception for an artist at the college.  Proper support was not put into place to maximize the chances of this artist having a strong crowd.  No just in case you are thinking it, I'm not talking about myself. :)  My policy is when I know an artist has a show I make it a priority to be there.  Supporting the artist, is always free to do.  It is dedication to the entire art community when you attend a show.  Offering an artist a show is one level of thinking that requires vision and support.  What was done right was that there was plenty of food at the event.  The next area is where the majority of people in the art world are sucking wind in:  Marketing your own image, your craft and making each contact with the community a major event.  When I do a show at the minimum it is extensively on my world renowned website (carl-s-gallery.net), my AWESOME blog (Carlsgalleryalive.blogspot.com), 2 or more local newspapers, radio and any other medium possible.  I generate customized invitations and personally give out hundreds.  Email campaign reminders are also sent out to support the event.  Last night I took a big stack of the artist's show cards and went building to building asking student to "Follow Me" to the free art reception.   I went room by room asking people to come support the artist and enjoy all of the free food that was there.  I ran into students trying to get a tone of stuff out of the junk food machines.  I said hey, there's plenty of free food at the reception.  Everyone is invited.  The following people will be referred to as "idiots".  Full credit is given to the online dictionary for having this most needed word to explain the level of some people you may have dealt with in your life.  So you might relate to my perspective. :)

id·i·ot/ˈidÄ“É™t/

Noun:
  1. A stupid person.
  2. A mentally handicapped person.
Synonyms:
fool - imbecile - blockhead - dunce - nitwit - dolt
These idiots, who happen to be in the poorest financial category "student" didn't see the value of free food.  Everyone around here knows I'm about taking care of my body, serious exercise and eating right.  I informed them that there was plenty of cookies and other things they would like.  They just continued to put money into the "life sucker machine"  It is America and it is your choice, so don't whine later.  I went into one class introduce myself and gave the previous invitation of supporting as usual.  One idiot, stood up and said who are you.  Immediately I thought I could respond by saying, "I'm a Master of Disaster" Referring to my Hurricane Katrina/Rita Testimony." or "The King of Sting" referring to Military Experiences or Remind her I am the artist of this Century.  Instead I just said  I'm the guy that always offers free things and opportunities to everyone.  It is your choice if you receive or not.  I have given out gas money, tickets to places, healthy milkshakes, tuition and the day is coming that I will be able to give Porsche's away.  Everyone stopped what they were doing, gave her the nastiest looks that a human could give to another and everyone lined up behind me like I was the most competent leader that ever lived. :)  Now I had found "real students"  No I didn't stick my tongue out at the idiot.  I did think about doing it though. :) One guy was in the breezeway, after I talked with him he immediately shut down his laptop and was fired up to go see some artwork! They followed me over to the event.  I introduce each one to the artist who was glad to see more people to come see his work.  All of these students had a great time and enjoyed the art work and the food.  I stayed a little while then went back out fishing for more people.  What I want people to understand about this story that I shared is supporting and artist is like having ice cold lemonade in a frosted glass while you are in the desert.  Supporting the artist is the same as needing oxygen underwater and above it.  The event was a success and success is not dependent on the numbers.  The more people that come and take a look shows that people still care about each other.  So when very little show up it is a reflection of a death or a dying society. Every minute of everyday there is an artist somewhere in the world forging a new creation for the world to see.  Take time to see especially when it is free.

PROJECT DECLASSIFIED CUSTOMIZED TABLE

After careful thought and now I'm publicly displaying the schematics to my latest creation.  My latest creation is a customized table.  This table is designed to feature a very unique piece of sculpture, one piece at a time. This table can stand alone or be put on top of another table to put work at eye level.  This feature gives you 2 completely different experiences of the work.  I have created another unique work from materials that was bought in my local community.  I have moved this work up to stage 3 and I'm quickly nearing completion.  I have been using serious power equipment and have been blessed and continue to be blessed to be safe.  All of the images come from above and I'm the recipient with the testimony to share.  I will be continuing to work with some serious power equipment.  Each piece of equipment is highly dangerous and I wear all my safety equipment and stay focused on the task.  I do not answer any calls, texts or noise that imps try to bring to the table.  When I'm in the zone, I'm one with the project and see it to completion.  This project is totally original and I have boldly experimented and created all original curves in all of the wood.  Tomorrow will be early assembly work.  I haven't decided if I will stain it soon.  I love the look of the raw wood.  I can say that it won't be painted.  This is my first table, it may get upgraded with glass and a little BLING.  Stay tuned!  The sky is the limit! :)

BATS LEADER REPORT/HOMEWORK (November 13, 2012)

Tonight was the first opportunity for students to demonstrate what they have learned so far in this class. I'm sure everyone did well.  It is important for every student to continue working their craft.  This week you should be working your craft 3-8 hours/day.  In order to build value, sharpen skills and build credibility you must dedicate the time, the sweat equity to win.  Make sure you go to this blog daily for support, homework and information. Checkout my website as well.  Make sure you are completing your technology requirements of 25 hours.

Homework is for you to create your 1st journal, which should be a written nonelectric booklet. It is OK to maintain a journal on a thumb drive in addition to your book. Also now after tonight's class everyone should be able to start creating a blog. Remember what your craft is and the focus or purpose of your blog.  You don't have to publish your blogs yet.  Homework part 2 is to develop a name, web address as a minimum for your blog.  Make sure you keep title and web address very simple because you will be giving it to other people starting next week.  Always use spell check!Copyright 2012 Carl's Gallery, American Artist Carl Childs Requests for permission to use material from any of American Artist Carl Childs' Blogs can be sent to carlsart2010@gmail.com

BATS LEADER REPORT 12 November 2012

Tonight we covered the purpose and importance of a blog.  A blog is one way to build value to your craft and your credibility in your field.  I recommend if you have a website or blog, keep it fresh, innovative, interesting and up to date.  My recommendation for a website is to update it as often as it is necessary for it to serve the intended purpose.  You can update monthly or weekly if you want to have superior results.  Too many artists websites are several years out of date.  Too many artist use a website as a way of checking the box or as a tool to temporarily improve status.  These artists miss out on the opportunity to maximize their results with an awesome website that tells a powerful story and provides quality images and information. A blog gives your audience the inside track of your thought process, ideas and the behind the scenes story of why you do the craft you do. A blog is an opportunity to share information that can build your credibility in your craft.  A blog can be your electronic newspaper or it can be a journal that you let selected fans peer over your shoulder and watch you write. Habitat For Humanity Was a Super Opportunity

Today was another AWESOME day!  I was able to spend several hours talking to people from all walks of life Thursday through Saturday.  I enjoy talking with people.  I'm amazed about the wide variety of topics and personal testimonies that were shared with me especially today.  It is true, time flies when you are having fun.  I spent a good part of today sculpting a piece of clay into my next work.  It was amazing how people gathered around to watch and ask questions.  Everyone that came by was excited to see the Chocolate Fountain!:)  It was the talk of the day!  I always make sure I have a strong mix of my work  in every show.  My main table, had the Chocolate Fountain as the center piece surrounded by butter trays, spoon rests, mono prints and acrylic paintings on tabletop easels.  To my back was a half circle of easels with intaglio prints and acrylic paintings.  I moved everything from the center stage location that I was given of Thursday to the door that went into the Re Store area.  Today I was the last artist on site that was invited to the Habitat for Humanity!  I wanted to see this event to the end and perseverance is power!

The Chocolate Fountain is at the Habitat for Humanity Fundraiser

.The Chocolate Fountain is at the Habitat for Humanity Fundraiser.  I have enjoyed the time spent at the fundraiser/art sale.  I have met some very interesting people who have asked me some great questions about my work.  I appreciate the invitation and opportunity to display my work and talk with the community.  I enjoy talking with people about my art.  I made sure I had a good balance of  paintings, ceramic and prints.  Each piece has such a unique look, it makes each work a conversation piece.  Habitat for Humanity is a great program that empowers individuals to become 1st time homeowners!  This program is among the best programs in the world that you can invest you time, money that will provide opportunity and legacy

BATS CLASS HOMEWORK (NOVEMBER 7, 2012)

Study all of the notes that you have taken to this point.  Bring you short term, mid range and long range goals so we can start working the plan.  A special note to my artist student, do not give away any more art work.  Right now we are in the process of establishing value, doing a makeover on image with a plan to reintroduce you to the community. I this class you will all hear me say that you have gold right now.  Every action that you do or don't do effects your image and the value of your craft.  Gone are the days of throwing work away and just giving it away to get it out of the house or barn.  I had a former student that was able to get $20 for a drawing that he made.  This same student threw away 20 drawings.  I told silly, that he had thrown away at least $400 at the minimum.  It is important to establish value in the craft that you work.  Be consistently working in your craft.  You should be working your craft with the same sense of urgency or necessity as breathing.  People do take breathing for granted.  If you have ever stopped or knew or heard of someone that did, you would have a greater respect for breathing.  If you are asthmatic or have respiratory issues, you would also know first hand the importance of every breath we take.

Keep winning!  Go to this blog and my website daily.  Be prepared for the 1st & 2nd opportunity in class next week to demonstrate all of the knowledge that you have picked up in this real world action packed class. Contact me if you have questions!  Carry on with the day!

BATS CLASS HOMEWORK (November 5, 2012)

Review the notes that you took tonight.  Read the syllabus again so you know what is expected of you for this class.  Create a list of your short term, midterm and long range goals so we can customize your program.  Don't listen to the noise of anyone saying that you can't win or be successful.  Be proud of yourself taking this first step towards victory.  Every class I will dedicate time to establishing and building value.  Read my blog and go to my website on a daily basis.  Follow the shows I have currently scheduled.  There will be tests on all of this information, especially all of the vocabulary builder for this class.  Lets keep the vision clear and move forward towards the finishing line.

In this class, I tend to heavily use technology.  I will be using every tool that I can to make sure you understand and learn the material for this course.  You all have my email, which is the best way to reach me.  Additionally you all have my phone number, as I said earlier I tend to be in the mountains or other remote areas so I may not get good reception. Last but not least work your craft! I am expecting my artists to be working a minimum of 3 mediums a week for 10-20 hours for week one of class.  I am also expecting my singers to be singing 3 different genres of music everyday with a minimum of  21-24 hours for the first week of class.  I was shown some portfolio work tonight which was great.  That's how you get the "Immunity Idol" in this course.  Every action that you do in this course is going to translate into a "rating".  Additionally all of you are also responsible to work with technology a minimum of 10 hours this first week.  Next class will be the first "Opportunity" to see what you have learned so far in this action packed class.

I am an artist and will continue my quest of completing 64-80 hours in my craft this week.  When it comes to your craft, it takes discipline, dedication and vision to have the intestinal fortitude to blaze a trail to victory.

CARL'S GALLERY 11000 Visitors from 34 Countries!

A warm thank you from Carl & The Art Team!  It takes a team in order to succeed!  This is a serious milestone that has been achieved! Thank you to everyone that has purchased work, viewed my work, offered display opportunities, donated to the cause and gave words of encouragement!  We WIN TOGETHER!  The process of winning is nonstop and will continue to build value and momentum.  I keep telling people don't wait until I'm doing a project with Sir Paul McCartney, Alicia Keys, Usher, AEROSMITH or any major artist that you know to realize that I'm serious about my craft.

Special Thanks to Kings Mountain Herald for Super Story!

The Kings Mountain Herald has done it again, by consistently writing a Super story about me.  The article has one of the hugest pictures you will ever see in a newspaper. The article dominates the front page of the Lifestyles section, loaded with large color pictures.  The story puts together all of the high points of my art career.  It talks about graduation, BATS, Carl's Mini Geometric Game and so much more. It is a blessing to get super coverage.  The newspaper helps keep my message and focus on the arts, fresh in multiple communities.  Additionally the reporters and photographers interest in my work establishes something that I teach in my class, value.  Always remember that you are winning!  That you have unlimited potential and possibilities.

The Creation "Soar" Will be on Tour Today

Today is the day VIP, Friends of Carl, Soldier of Clay Fans, Collectors and buyers will be the first to see "Soar".  I have to mention the haters.  "You motivate me to soar higher!"  "How do you like me now! :) As an artist this work is finished for now.  This work is energetic and highly textured skin that is awaiting the "BLING" that will be installed on this piece.  As of right now one of the following gems will be the featured stone in "Soar"  Ruby, Diamond, Star Sapphire or Emerald.   This piece has unlimited potential and has that ancient look to the piece.  Adding a precious stone only makes sense.  Also Spock & Tuvok always agree with my choices...because they are logical.  As an artist when you create awesome work and there's still room for the work to go to an even higher level, do it.  With all that being said, "The "Lady" is going to get some precious stones that will already enhance the beauty that is already there.

"Soar" right now stands to be my first work that will have at the minimum precious and semi-precious stones.  "Lion Tablet will be the first work that will have precious metals installed.   Every action as an artist builds value.  Every decision as an artist builds value.  Every idea as an artist is a seed of legacy.

Project Soar is Finished for November 1, 2012 VIP Showing

Project Soar is finished!  It will be shown at the New Fortress of Solitude.  This is the show and tell studio area for those who are not in the loop.  When it comes to soar!  It is a very unique sculptural piece.  Soar is an inspirational piece with elements from the Great Fall in Genesis.  When you look at this piece it will take you back to ancient times just from the look and unique texture of the work. Soar is a female form with several birds flying from this form. This piece is a liberation/inspirational piece for any woman that has felt that they were not important or feel that the "fall" still lingers.  Even though the fall happened, since that day, "You are to soar!!! You have unlimited opportunity and potential always. It is a piece you are definitely want to see.  To me this work is among my best and that is without any gems incorporated into.  It will be the first publicly shown piece that will have gems very soon.  Ruby is the stone of choice for this piece which also leads us to another scripture.  I'm not going to tell all.  I won't allow you to kiss this work goodbye.  Soar has been declassified.  This work has developed me in a different direction then my previous works.  I have also created a special textured"skin" or "Childs Effect" exclusively on this piece.  I predict this work to collect several awards in the future.  I'm very happy with this work because I was able to keep my original vision of this work in place until completion. This work has the look of a ancient or historical piece that has been unearthed at an excavation site or a piece that was found on a deep sea dive. Also look for this piece to be featured at one of my next exhibits.  I look forward to this piece gaining museum and gallery time in several communities.  I also enjoyed  the multitude of opportunities for experimentation with this work that has liberated and set me free. This work is an exclamation point on my sculptural ability.

BATS STARTS NOVEMBER 5, 2012

The new BATS class starts next Monday, November 5, 2012.  Previous BATS students will be offered several opportunities based on their recruiting efforts for the new class.  Even though class is over you should still be working your craft 20 to 40 hours a week.  This will put you in the what is your norm as an artist or businessperson.  Right now if you are an artist you should be working on your second or third sketchbook.

Carl's Mini Geometic Game Was a Success!!!

Carl's Mini Geometric Game was fun and was a super success.  I'm pleased to share a report of talking to a 4 year old at the event.  This 4 year old just like any child her age was excited to see all the prizes that was at the arcade.  She asked me how could she get a prize.  I told her you have to make a Geometric shape that's 2D or 3D with this sheet of paper.  Her eyes got big and she said that she was going to make an Octagon!  That was AWESOME!  She won an instant prize which was a glow bracelet that definitely started her to talking.  Later that evening she was presented her prize a teddy bear which she excitedly grabbed, said thank you and ran over to her grandparents.  The future is going to be brighter because the very young are still open minded.

Several Events This Week

I will keep working my craft and build strong numbers for my studio time.  Today I spent time going through an interview with the media and was on blog talk radio earlier this morning.  Additionally I have been busy building value and selling art.  The Chocolate Fountain will be out of the kiln glaze fired this week.  I will be able to give more of an update tomorrow.  Chocolate Test will be this week also!  Chocolate tests and fountain test will take up approximately 6-8 hours this week.  I currently have 3 solo shows going on in the community.  I still have work in a combined show in downtown Gastonia (Arts On Main) that will be on display for 2 more days.  I'm also inviting everyone to Jeanne Rauch Gallery to see my 3D work that is on display there.  How you like me now! :)  I'm still recruiting people for my November 5th class!!!  Additionally I'll be working pastels this week a minimum of 8 hours. I will be mapping Project Soar tomorrow and will dedicate 3 1/2 hours to upgrade this project to level 3 status.  Starting new clay work tomorrow a 2 1/2 hour investment.  I will also be waxing and glazing some of my bisque work. Tomorrow is going to be a highly productive day!  I have a 14 hour fitness investment scheduled for this week.  Also I have a 24 hour commitment to Carl's Geometry Game first appearing in Kings Mountain, NC.  I also have some media things I need to follow up with for my solo exhibit and reception November 30, 2012.

BATS CLASS (MISSION 1 COMPLETE)

It was true team work.  Everyone showed tremendous growth and there was 100% participation.  All of the thinking for class was way outside of the box.  That is the norm for our group.  I'm very happy that everyone had a great time and learned so much.  I'm proud of everyone utilizing there skills in a high impact, quick decision making complex scenario.  It took some time to put tonight's mission together and it was worth it!  Everyone study your current notes. Keep winning in your craft!!!  It is going to be a long night for me due to some more work I need to get accomplished before tomorrow and Thursday.

Be ready to take on the day tomorrow!  We will be going over Copy Right, Artist Statement and as always building VALUE.

Field Trip Was Success (A Week to Remember)

The Field Trip was an AWESOME life changing experience for everyone involved.  I knew that we could have a super time without having to line up all of the Mercedes and convoy to the airport to go to Europe.  I did share my Carl's Cruise which will be happening in 2013. :)  The Chocolate Fountain should be exiting the kiln this week.

This is week is going to be AWESOME!  My first BATS class will be completed this week. We will make future plans for a graduation. BATS this week is going to be action packed and loaded with a tons of legal stuff and MISSION ONE orders will be issued soon!!!  I will be in the newspaper this week building value, you have to look.  Thursday, I will be in the horse drawn buggy as I enter the Arts and Science Hall at Gaston College for my Coronation as "YOUR ROYAL EMINENCE"  calling me Carl was just too short. "Also "Carl your AMAZING" was getting to be too common.  Who knows some art work may have sold, I may have another award or aliens may come get the "haters" :) Don't come running to me if you are a hater.  The aliens are only going to take you on that long awaited vacation or maybe this is you chance to just get away from it all! :)  Spock and Tuvok  both agree that taking the BATS Class is the only logical move to make for November 5th.   Also I heard them whisper something about giving the BORG your address if you don't take my class.  I could be wrong.  I almost have a cloaking device wired into my Porsche.  Later this week is going to be Carl's Mini Geometry/Arcade Game Contest.

Work Your Studio Time & Build Discovery, Value & Opportunities

Studio Time is the opportunity for discovery, mastery of skill and clarity of priorities.  It is your personal time that is an investment in YOU!  To not do your studio time is neglecting your craft's health.  Today I started my studio time at 6am and it didn't end until slightly after 7pm.  Tremendous value and skills were built today.  It will be a future discussion, a teaching point and not a casual conversation.  Establish minimum standards for your studio time and exceed them.  Your skill level and overall rating depends on it.  Your skills are the keys that can open doors.  How many keys do you have ready to use?  Tomorrow I will be on a field trip with my class.  I won't be saying where because it is by invitation only.  I still say thanks to everyone following my blog.

There will be a special announcement tomorrow about my latest event in the community!  Keep working to gain higher skill and understanding of your craft.  Keep WINNING!!!

WORKING MY CRAFT (Working Smart Now!)

It was a very enjoyable week!  I feel comfortable with the level of learning and production that went on this week.  The Chocolate Fountain has several water test conducted this week for me to be able to maximize the arc that the chocolate will make when it arcs into the air.  Also there is a wood project/ceramic that I have not started putting any information out on yet.  Project Soar has also had more physical work, online research and glaze selection.  Additionally I have verified melting points of metal and gems before going into field test and experimenting.  New art work has also been moved into the Belmont & Dallas areas.  Additionally I was able to enter some beautiful work into another contest.  BATS now has new training aids for future operations.  Additionally I have created a new BATS RATING SCHEME and support form.  BATS scenarios and key information have been written everyday of this week.  One key thing I learned this week was that there's definitely a different mindset between a Production Artist trying to teach and one that has experience teaching or is focused on Art and Education.  Both I know are 2 different worlds and the experiences of both fields will impact the type of student that is developed.  One is focused more on the product.  The other is more focused on the student.  Trying to capture and witness that AH-HA moment!  Right now I have some projects that need to be worked on.  I will continue this blog later.

BATS CLASS REQUIREMENT (BECOME FOLLOWER ON BLOG)

It is important for each class member to become a follower of my art blog.  This is our "Black Board" for homework, assignments and field trip information.   Additionally everyone should send me an email today. As always if you have any questions just email me at carlsart2010@gmail.com.  Most of the class has been given their current rating.  If you haven't email me today!  It is important for everyone to work their field, which is either art or business.  Right now it is important to get the highest synergy possible to build value and importance to your craft and name.  There are practical exercises coming up that your rating will play a direct role in your ability to navigate through the challenge.

Just like an athlete has to eat right, hydrate, get proper rest and practice their craft of exercise daily, you must do the same to get 100% of the benefits of this course.  Why does my art work sell for what it does?  I am putting in no less than 51.5 hours a week working my craft.  Meanwhile others that are investing 0 or significantly less time wonder why they are not in the spotlight or are BROKE.  So FAILURE is a decision that is made by wasting time and not heading the warning signs that are in front of an individual.  SUCCESS is having the intestinal fortitude to pursue a worthy idea relentlessly.  The INVINCIBILITY attitude comes with the constant success of winning big, against the tidal wave of personal and professional adversity.  ANYONE can experience this if they truly believe that they deserve it and are willing to blaze a new customized trail to their intended future.  One secret that I have shared with each of you is this.  Whatever level of investment that you are currently doing in your current craft is far from where you are supposed to be.  The norm for you is so much more!  This class will get you there if you work your craft and put in constant effort.  This class BATS is a one of a kind class and is not available anywhere else in the world!

Also at the same time the journey that I have been on, the haters have watched me as an artist go from conception to adulthood. There are several witnesses to my work ethic, dedication to building individuals and ability to create environments for all to win. Even with all that has been going on I am flexible, learning something new everyday and excited about the Ah-Ha! and new discovery moments.

Always remember, you can be handed the keys to the Porsche, it is up to you to get out of the bed and drive it.  It is your decision to race toward a brighter future or just stay in the garage and talk about what would nice or what could have been.

Catch BATS Now

I want to say hello and thanks to all of the supporting cast that has made Business Art Tactic Sales (BATS) a reality.  It was a dream to graduate from school and start teaching winning skills immediately.  I would like to thank the entire media for their support.  A special thanks to the King's Mountain Herald for being the first to share the project key areas of my life and my class (BATS).  The Cherryville Eagle for also sharing my graduation story and (BATS) information.  The Belmont Banner for also sharing my graduation story and publishing a super smile picture of me at Pet Project 2 in Mt Holly(Photo Credit: Mr. Charlie Childs Jr. Carl's Gallery)and information about BATS.

When it comes to the one of a kind course BATS, I recommend taking it now.  1. You will get significant growth and tangible results in your career field.  2. The current plan is for me to teach Fall 2012 and go to ECU in the spring.  This means that the earliest this course could be offered again would be Summer 2013. If I decide to continue to go through the summer working on my degree, it would mean a 2 year wait before the class would be available again.  In summary when it comes to the time, it will be Summer 2013 or Fall 2015 before this class would be offered again.

A little update on the cost, which is currently $62 for this 2012 Fall semester.  I'm currently writing the textbook for BATS and look forward to increasing the amount of information.  This will eventually lengthen the commitment and the cost of the course.  At this time I'm not going to publicly reveal the new information and significant increase in cost for future classes.

Career is moving up into low orbit and it is getting time for me to do some overseas exhibits.  This is something that will be happening when the time presents the optimum opportunity.  This will definitely pull me away from the school environment to a degree. Getting my BFA will pull me further into teaching and jury art.

I'm a high production artist, that produces all kinds of awesome exhibits and things you will love to by.  I'm constantly putting ideas in motion and continuing to win. :)

Winning Round 1

I'm producing, growing, learning and positioning into every possible opportunity.  Art is a way of life and there is the spirit of creativity in all of us.  Some may have forgotten or just need to reconnect with it.  Remember the times when the sky really was the limit.  If you are not there or don't have that feeling, now is the time to capture that moment.  We live in an ever changing world.  It is up to each one of us how many sunrises or sunsets we witness.  It is up to us how many seeds we sow in good soil.  The Farmer is one of the greatest artist of our time.  For all we need to know is based on farming.

The Tremendous Impact of Art

Art has so many positive things associated with it.  I wanted to take time to share some good news.  Art has a positive influence on the mind.  Art plays a role in helping with memory.  You can go online and see there are doctors that are on board with letting the world know this fact.  Doctors are seeing results with Dementia and Alzheimer's patients.  Art can more mountains and bring winds of change to any students life.  A student that is involved in the arts contributes volunteer work in the community 4X more than a student that isn't into art.  Students are 4x times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement, participate in math and science fairs and participate in youth groups.  Additionally these same students are 3X more likely to win an award for perfect attendance and be elected to a leadership position in school clubs.  One other thing that most people might already know that the "student artist" reads for the pure enjoyment of reading twice as much or more then most students.  Art strengthens student problem-solving and critical thinking skills which leads to academic achievement and overall school success.

Two Occasions

I create my work on only 2 occasions, that's day and night.  I have been spending more time creating work in public.  I enjoy the outdoors and all of the benefits that it provides.  I took time today to create a mixed media work on the hood of my vehicle in a parking lot. It created a lot of interest and traffic.  I keep materials with me all the time and I advise fellow artist to do the same.  I spend as much time as I can working on something positive.

(Carl's ART 101 Declassified) Investing in a Reproduction of a Work (Why)

Several people like to say, "I prefer to buy the original work." That's great, but at the same time also consider purchasing a reproduction of a work.   When it comes to a reproduction, it is not a simple method of just making a copy of the original work.  Many call a "copy' of a work a print.  When it is actually a reproduction.  I have taken "Printmaking" which is creating an original work with ink, a matrix and high quality paper. The artist and the printer have a partnership, process and standard for the work.  I want to share a few advantages of buying reproductions.  1. It allows you the power and opportunity to purchase work from my fellow artists.  Yes, I'm interested in their sales too! There are almost 7 billion people in the world, more than enough for all of us artists to be busy and win.  It is important to go to as many exhibits as possible to support the artist.  Your presence, means the world to them.  That is why they are so glad to see you!  There are thousands of exhibits that go on monthly that are packed with wonderful art, delicious food, usually wine and are FREE to attend.  You must be of legal drinking age to be served.  That is a uncompromisable standard that exists and is enforced.

It takes more than just talent to produce and promote art.  There are a lot of behind the scenes commitment of resources, time, energy and money that the buyer isn't aware of.  I'll discuss those in another blog. 2. Purchasing a reproduction puts resources into the hands of an artist to continue working their craft.  If you love the work the artist is creating, "Do you want to see more?"  Buying boosts confidence and grounds the artist with a relief and satisfaction, it completes the artist.  What do I do as an artist to show additional gratitude that someone took time to invest in my work.  They are the ones that see my latest and greatest first.  The people that buy my work are helping me on my journey.  Immediately move into the inner circle and are given priority.  Additionally they are the ones that get first choice of my new work. :)  They are the ones that know my achievements and I share more personal ideas and stories with them.  Take a moment and marinate on what I have said so far when it comes to reproductions.  3. Spock & Tuvok both would agree with me. "If you can't afford the original work, purchase the reproduction."  Reproductions are always lower than the original.  That's something that you can count on 100%.  Reproductions can be as low as 1/6th of the cost of the original work.  WOW!!! :) Things to look for in purchasing a reproduction of a work are: Limited Edition:  How limited? 50, 100, 1000.  What process and materials are used to create the reproduction?  There is a different process and cost between having a Lithograph or Giclee reproduction.  With today's technology, a Giclee reproduction can be made of an original that can feature these 2 options as an example:  Larger or smaller size of the original work.  The work can be transmitted on to high quality paper or canvas with UV protection included.  This to me as a buyer definitely gets me significantly closer to being satisfied with a high quality work that will appreciate in value.  Now you know that you don't have to suffer by not being able to buy the original, this brings all of the work you like to your budget.

Now, new information warrants a new decision.  If you are stuck between buying an original or settling for nothing at all. A reproduction is the next logical choice.  I have provided you with some guidance that can expand your options, build your collection and increase you satisfaction or happiness with the work.

Art is Therapy for the Mind, Body & Soul

Art has far reaching impact on our health.  Art should be made available to everyone.  There are several groups of people that are under served when it comes to the arts.  Seniors, blind, deaf and special needs adults and children need to know that they are always part of our community team.   Everyone loves art, it is important to create, grow and learn.  These are things that we are constantly doing. I choose to provide opportunities and venues to allow our fellow brothers and sister to create.  Art is one of the greatest tools in the world that sharpens the mind.

Exhibit "Touch & Go" is at Gaston College

Hello to everyone!  My latest exhibit, "Touch & Go" is at Gaston College main campus library.  The theme behind this show is to have a positive impact on everyone you come across in life.  That is a season to grow, learn, mentor and discover your mission in life.  It is like leaving home to go out into the world and achieve excellence.  As a bird soars from the nest the focus is not the fall that may happen.  It is how high you can fly.  Every soul that I encounter, I leave them with laughter, understanding, motivation and a sense of purpose and direction.  Everyone has a purpose and has something credible to contribute to the world.  It is important to get the relationship with God straight first and the rest will fall in place. This is probably going to be my last show at Gaston before I graduate.  This has been a very exciting and action packed semester.  I'm also working on the following summer programs: Scripture & Scribbles, Power of the Crayon,  Art +Music. Touch every life that you can and encourage them to soar to heights that may right now seem impossible. Go tell your testimony to someone else.  Keep going for with excellence for all the days you are given!
